Onsen and Mt. Iwate
Shizukuishi is surrounded by many mountains which form a basin. Mt. Iwate, with its highest altitude, as well as Shizukuishi are highly regarded by local people as Iwate prefecture’s symbolic mountain. These mountains are providing the reward to people in form of hot springs that heal people’s body and heart. In Shizukuishi, there are 10 variety of hot springs with different characteristic so you can enjoy different hot springs every day.
1. Koiwai Winter Illumination at Koiwai Farm Makiba Park
It will be gorgeous this year! After passing through the lighted gate, you will be greeted by the Welcome Tunnel. The illuminated tunnels have increased to 4 areas and the Symbol Tree has returned. Areas possibly for Instahae (Instagram Spots), also. There will also be limited time menus and you can expect other delicious foods.

Time: Makiba Garden Opening Hours 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM Illumination lighting 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM On Day of Fireworks ~ 9: 00 PM
Additional note: There will be special extra buses between Koiwai Farm and Morioka Station during this period
Flower & Garden Mori no Kaze (Forest Wind)
There will be 340,000 bulbs of illumination decorating the garden in an adult atmosphere with Kenji Miyazawa’s “Ginga Tetsudo no Yoru (Night on the Galactic Railroad)” as the theme. Enjoy a chic night wrapped in light.
